Project 1: Fraud Detection System

Overview:
This project aimed to detect fraud patterns and identify high-risk merchants in the European market using machine learning. The goal was to develop a model to identify fraudulent credit card transactions.Tools Used:
1. Data Source: Kaggle’s synthetic credit card transaction dataset.
2. Techniques: XGBoost, Random Forest, Isolation Forest, and Local Outlier Factor (LOF).
3. Platform: Power BI for visualization and Flask API for real-time detection.Key Insights:
1. High-Risk Merchants: Travel sector merchants, like Hotels.com, showed fraud spikes between 1-4 AM.
2. Fraud Detection: XGBoost outperformed other models; hybrid models enhanced detection.
3. Real-Time Monitoring: A Flask-based API was developed for immediate fraud alerts to merchants.

Project 2: Student Engagement Power BI Analysis

Overview:
This analysis focused on student engagement with Maynooth University's MU Connect platform, covering email, resource usage, pathways, and career intent. The goal was to identify behavior patterns and recommend improvements, such as embedding a chatbot in Moodle to enhance engagement.Tools Used:
1. Data Source: MU Connect platform data (email, resources, pathways, career intent).
2. Techniques: Descriptive and diagnostic analytics using Power BI.Key Insights:
1. Email Engagement: Examined how open rates related to conversion rates (follow user actions). Recommended to consider more personalized emails with dynamic CTAs.
2. Resource Usage: Compared usage rates among the different available offerings. Offered suggestions on which ones to promote more.
3. Pathways Completion: Identified differences in the engagement trends among distinct user cohorts. Based on this evidence, suggested ways to tailor the pathways and activities to the target audience.
